Program Overview |
|
Oncology nursing is fortunate to have pioneer nurse scientists who continue to contribute to nursing knowledge. This session will feature select recipients of the ONS Distinguished Nurse Research Award during its first decade (1992–2001). Receive updates on their research programs and learn from their vast research experience and wisdom. |

Key Take-aways |
|
After participating in this enduring material, the participant should be able to:
1. Advanced practice nurses make a difference in outcomes of patients with multiple cancers across the disease trajectory and their family caregivers.
2. It takes clinical partnerships among nurse researchers and other professional providers with patients and families to develop an effective nursing research program. Teams who study vulnerable patients with complex problems need structured opportunities to share their work and support to continue.
3. Nursing research within a research program does not involve simply a linear or additive process; it involves multi-component and concurrent studies. The Model of the Problem is distinct from the Model of the Intervention. An informed research program is not only data-based, it is linked tightly with an evolving theoretical framework. |
